An anime adaptation of Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima video game was announced by Crunchyroll at the Sony Group Corporation's CES 2025 press conference on Monday. The anime series will draw inspiration from the original game and its multiplayer co-op expansion, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. Set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027, the anime will share the same title as the Legends expansion. Takanobu Mizuno (Star Wars: Visions) is helming the anime at Kamikaze Douga. Screenwriter Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) is handling the series composition. The anime series is being produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ghost of Tsushima was released on PlayStation 4 in July 2020, with a multiplayer expansion subtitled Legends released in October that year. The game was also ported to PlayStation 5 in August 2021 and on PC in May 2024. A sequel, titled Ghost of Yotei, is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 in 2025. Game Synopsis The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won't lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan. (Ghost of Tsushima: Legends on MAL
