Second 'Mononoke' Movie Reveals Additional Cast, Trailer

The official website of the Mononoke anime movie project revealed additional cast, new staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and trailer for the second movie in the trilogy on Thursday. The movie, subtitled Dai ni Shou - Hinezumi (Chapter II - Fire Rat), will premiere on March 14, 2025. Voice actors Kenyuu Horiuchi (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) and Cho (Kengan Ashura) are joining the cast as Roujuu Ootomo and Ryouji Tokita, respectively. Kenji Nakamura, director of the original anime, is now serving as the chief director. Kiyotaka Suzuki (Psycho-Pass 2), assistant director of the first movie, is now directing the second movie at EOTA. Yuuichi Takahashi (Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song) and Taku Iwasaki (Bungou Stray Dogs) are returning as the character designer and music composer, respectively. The first movie opened in theaters in Japan on July 26. The stage greeting event commemorating the opening of the movie confirmed the production of a second movie. The movie project will have three parts in total. Mononoke, a spin-off of the 2006 anthology Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror, aired in 12 episodes on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block in Summer 2007. Trailer
