Manga 'Cat's Eye' Gets New Anime Adaptation in 2025

The Disney Content Showcase 2024 event in Singapore announced a new anime adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo's Cat's Eye manga on Thursday, revealing a teaser promo and teaser visual (pictured). The anime will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2025. Singer-songwriter Ado is covering the titular opening of the 1983 television anime by Anri as the theme song, previewed in the teaser promotional video. The action comedy manga was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1981 to 1985 and collected into 18 volumes. Shueisha later republished a ten-volume collector's edition in 1994 and a paperback edition from 1995–1996. Tokuma Shoten reprinted a complete edition in 2005-2006. Cat's Eye has a cumulative 20 million of its compiled volumes in circulation. Tokyo Movie Shinsha adapted the manga into a 73-episode television anime that aired from Summer 1983 to Summer 1985. The Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye (Lupin the 3rd vs Cat's Eye) crossover anime premiered exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video in January 2023, commemorating both the 50th anniversary of Lupin III and 40th anniversary of Cat's Eye anime series. Monthly Comic Zenon ran a remake manga written by Sakura Nakameguro from October 2010 to January 2014, featuring illustrations by Shingo Asai. Coamix released the manga in eight volumes. The publisher also releases Hojo's original manga in English on the Manga Hot service.
